Rachel Krupnick , MSW, LSW

Rachel Krupnick is a Licensed Social Worker who has been in the field for over 10 years. She received her MSW from the University of Pennsylvania School of Social Work. Prior to joining Dr. Sandi Reiken and Associates, Ms. Krupnick worked at The New York Presbyterian Hospital focusing on dialysis patients, pre and post kidney transplant patients, and bridged the liver transplant program between the Columbia and Cornell campuses.

In Graduate School, her clinical work focused on children with cancer at the world renowned Children’s Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. Aside from working with the chronically ill, Rachel has extensive experience working with adolescents and young adults. Her experience includes working at Daytop, In-Patient and Out-Patient Drug and Alcohol Treatment Programs and In-Patient Psychiatric Services.

“It is important,” Ms. Krupnick states, “For the client not to discount their past but to learn from the lessons it teaches. People who have experienced difficulties need support while facing daily challenges and be assisted in establishing a new way of living. Therefore, developing strategies for time management, setting healthy boundaries, strengthening communication and incorporating solution-building skills are some areas of focus. Individuals need hope, purpose and direction….and to be held accountable for setting and following through on their new realistic goals.”

Rachel also works closely with the family, spouses, friends, and significant others. She maintains close contact with parents, school administrators and/or legal authorities, rehabilitation or hospital personnel to insure continuity of care, the dissemination of information, an expeditious return to the prior setting, or assistance in choosing a new placement.
