Christine Jeffrey, MSW, LCSW
Christine Jeffrey, MSW, LCSW, is a licensed therapist who has been treating children and families for 11 years. She specializes in helping toddlers, school-aged children, teens and their families work through difficult periods, traumatic events, and parenting challenges due to social, emotional, and/or behavioral difficulties. Christine has worked with children in both in-patient and out-patient settings including pioneering and running a highly successful adolescent treatment program for juvenile offenders. She is certified in Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) for treating victims of traumatic events and is a certified and licensed School Social Worker. Christine has solid ties to the community, including pediatric specialists, local school systems, and government agencies.
Christine uses a short-term, goal-oriented approach to treating her clients using her own innovative and dynamic strategy. This strategy is based on her belief that effective therapy with children requires identifying the problem through the child’s eyes by first speaking the child’s language. This enables Christine to learn what perceived needs are going unmet and then empowering parents and caregivers with an effective yet supportive plan to meet these needs and ultimately change behavior and improve relationships. “When kids feel like Mom and Dad ‘get it’ it becomes a win-win situation.” Christine uses a collaborative approach involving parents, teachers and other caregivers as needed, in order to maintain continuity in the care planning process. “If everyone is on the same page there is a much greater success rate and the control over the situation is back with the parents, where it belongs.”
Christine understands that parents can become frustrated and feel powerless and fearful because they are sincerely trying their best. “All families go through bumps in the road, even loving and dedicated ones. Sometimes meeting with someone objective and highly skilled in providing a fresh approach to change a situation is the most loving way to take care of your children.”
Christine offers afternoon, evening and Saturday hours by appointment. A complimentary telephone consultation is available on request. To view Christine’s profile in “Psychology Today” click on the following link: www.psychologytoday.com.
“I find it enormously rewarding helping parents strengthen their relationships and watching kids’ self-esteem shoot up as their behavior improves.”
