Anne Effron, MSW, LCSW, BCD

Anne K. Effron, LCSW, BCD is a board-certified clinical social worker with over 25 years of experience treating individuals, couples, and families.  She has done extensive postgraduate training in couples therapy at the Ackerman Institute for the Family in New York City and with Elizabeth Carter, MSW, a world-renowned marital therapist.  Anne has developed a lively and effective way of working with couples in distress.  She has helped many couples move out of negative and destructive patterns of interacting with one another into more respectful, satisfying, and loving relationships.

Working with women is another area of specialization in Anne’s practice. In individual therapy and in women’s workshops and groups, she has helped women build greater trust in themselves and their authority at difficult and critical transition points in their lives. For many, that trust recedes after a loss, such as a divorce, at a time when they most need it. Anne’s strength and passion lies in helping women retrieve a sense of themselves and find a vitality to move forward.

Additional areas of focus in Anne’s practice include: stress management; working with anxiety and depression—including post-partum depression; facing the challenges of pregnancy loss and infertility; navigating the divorce process; and helping men and women adjust to major shifts and changes in their lives.

Anne has spoken before many community and professional groups on the topics of adjustment to parenthood and mother/daughter relationships.  Her articles on women’s identity issues and on children and divorce have appeared in a variety of professional journals.

In combination with her extensive experience and wide repertoire of clinical skills, Anne brings to her practice warmth, sensitivity, and a genuine pleasure in working with people. She is easy to talk with, and she has a well-honed capacity to listen and to understand.
